At Plain Chains, many of our chains are crafted from sterling silver and finished with premium 3 micron vermeil gold plating.
Vermeil plating is a high-quality gold finish where sterling silver is dipped in genuine gold multiple times to build up a thicker, longer-lasting layer of gold.
Our 3 micron plating is significantly thicker than standard fashion jewellery plating, giving your chain a richer colour, improved durability, and a more luxurious finish.
Because this is genuine gold plating over silver, your chain offers the look and feel of solid gold at a more accessible price point.
Please Note
As with all plated jewellery, the gold layer will naturally wear over time depending on how often the piece is worn and how it is cared for. Exposure to water, sweat, perfumes, lotions, chemicals, and friction can gradually fade the plating.
This natural ageing process is completely normal for vermeil and micron-plated jewellery.
Care Guide
To keep your chain looking its best for as long as possible:
- • Remove before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping
- • Avoid contact with perfumes, aftershaves, lotions, and cleaning products
- • Store your chain in a dry, soft pouch or jewellery box when not in use
- • Clean gently with a soft dry cloth — avoid abrasive materials or jewellery cleaners
- • Keep away from excessive moisture and humidity
With proper care, your vermeil plated chain can maintain its finish and shine for a long time.
